The European Commission is seeking proposals for socio-economic partnership projects in the Western Balkan and Turkey with financial assistance from the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance. The objective of this Call for Proposals is to develop strong regional partnerships among CSOs concerned with socio-economic issues from the region itself and with their EU counterparts and public authorities as well as to improve the transparency and the accountability of CSOs. In particular, this Call should favour the following aspects:
- a professionally operating civil society,
- new CSO networks, common strategy and initiatives,
- better quality of services and better dissemination of common values in the region,
- increased support to democratic initiatives, including raising awareness of relevant matters amongst citizens and public authorities by means of intercultural dialogue.
In this context, the synergies between CSOs should contribute towards promoting the principles and values of the European Union in the potential member states in the region, respecting the sensitivities of those involved and enhancing regional cooperation and good neighbourhood relations
The full Guidelines for Applicants are available for consultation on the following internet link.
The deadline for submission of proposals is 6 May 2010.

Due to the ashes coming from the Icelandic Vulcano, it may be difficult for your proposals to arrive in time. As stated in the guidelines applications (concept note + full application form and relevant annexes) need to be mailed by the deadline of 06 May 2010 to be evidenced by the date of dispatch, the postmark or the date of the deposit slip. In the case of hand-deliveries, the deadline for receipt is at 17:00 hours local time as evidenced by the signed and dated receipt. Any application submitted after the deadline will automatically be rejected. However, planes may not be able to fly your package. Therefore, too avoid delays in the evaluation due to later (justified) arrival of proposals, it would help us a lot if you could also e-mail your proposal (concept note + full application form) to Mr. Henk Visser (Henk.VISSER@ec.europa.eu)
