The Technical Assistance to Civil Society Organisations (TACSO) Office in Kosovo and the Kosovar Civil Society Foundation (KCSF) have been supporting Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Kosovo together since October 2015, when their cooperation started.
For nearly two decades, KCSF has been a leading actor on building and strengthening civil society in Kosovo and the wider region. Over this period, it has implemented dozens of projects; it has served as a re-granting facility for key donors; it has organised numerous capacity building events; and it has served as a central reference point for information about and for the civic sector.
KCSF was selected as the Resource Centre (RC) for Kosovo to carry out TACSO services based on its long-lasting experience and direct results in the country’s civic sphere.
Through coordinated actions between KCSF and the TACSO Kosovo Office, a series of direct assistance and strategic involvement have been implemented in the frame of TACSO by KCSF to contribute to a sustainable and active civil society environment.
Through TACSO by KCSF, special emphasis was given to direct assistance to the CSOs in Kosovo via the help desk functions, by providing useful and consistent insights into the inquiries of CSOs and other stakeholders.
Concrete assistance to CSOs encompasses delivery of practical information on basic requirements such as registration of an NGO, methods of operation, legal requests and financial reporting. Also more advanced assistance is provided via the help desk functions on European Union (EU) funding opportunities, financial management and PADOR registrations.
Dedicated information sessions for local organisations have been held on EU calls for proposals, as well as support for concrete issues that CSOs encounter concerning the implementation of rules and procedures for specific calls. While capacity building activities are focused on the implementation and successful management of CSOs’ projects.
TACSO by KCSF contributes to the design and organisation of different P2P events held in Kosovo. Additionally, it has facilitated the selection and participation process of Kosovar CSOs in the regional P2P events.
TACSO together with KCSF in its capacity as the RC, are working on a number of initiatives which seek to encourage suitable policy formulations with Kosovo decision-making institutions, aiming to positively impact civil society and an ever-developing democratic society in the country.
A number of events and activities that include subjects and interventions from youth empowerment and volunteering to capacity building on communication for CSOs, have been programmed for the near future.
