Furthermore, they discussed on the basis of the experience of the five CSOs (Macedonian Enterprise Development Foundation– MEDF; Centre for Institutional Development –CIRa; Association of Career Councillors – ASK; Community Development Institute – Tetovo and Foundation Focus, Veles) who attended two events on social entrepreneurship in Strasburg.

In addition, the participants visited the local social enterprise Pokrov which is therapeutic community for rehabilitation from drugs, alcohol and hazard which manages to achieve its sustainability by engaging in social entrepreneurship.

The CSOs that participated in the seminar believe that by engaging in social entrepreneurship activities they can accomplish their mission and can contribute to their self-sustainability. Furthermore, they believe that the adoption of the Law on social entrepreneurship and the establishment of close cooperation with the business sector could positively impact greater involvement of vulnerable groups on the labour market, to decrease unemployment and to offer solution to other burning issues on national, regional and local level.

Some of the challenges stated by the participants are lack of funds, skills, information, analysis and statistics on social entrepreneurship as well as the risk from not involving CSOs in passing the Law on social entrepreneurship. In order for the CSOs to be involved in social entrepreneurship, special focus should be placed on ensuring funds, via state or international donors, which should be a support to economic activities of the organisations.

The seminar was organized in cooperation with 5 CSOs (Macedonian Enterprise Development Foundation– MEDF; Centre for Institutional Development –CIRa; Association of Career Councillors – ASK; Community Development Institute – Tetovo and Foundation Focus, Veles) who attended two events on social entrepreneurship in Strasburg.
