Going Beyond Pride and Pain? - „History that Connects the Balkans“ | 18-23 July 2017 – Vlore, Albania | Event supported by TACSO P2P within the context of 3rd EUROCLIO “History that Connects the Balkans” Summer School & 2nd ePACT Annual Meeting of the Standing Working Group on History Education.
The event has been set up as a capacity-building event providing transnational transfer of knowledge and experience. Through lectures, workshops, discussion groups and study visits, participating history and heritage educators were stimulated to implement innovative teaching practices in their classroom and/or museum/site/institute and to work towards a framework for a common approach for dealing with history.
The work visit enabled the examination of Serbian experience that results in major model for WBT as SECO and their successes and lessons learnt for this model. It also enabled examination of National Convent Platform, an initiative led by CSOs and that is officially recognized at Parliament as key stakeholders for policy development during EU Accession reform. Work visit enabled reflections on current and future initiatives carried out by Ministry of EU Affairs, civil society and representatives from Delegation of EU to Turkey and hosted discussions for possible collaboration and joint strategies, mechanisms and cooperation models for improving the participation of CSOs to EU Accession process at different levels. One of the important gains of the work visit was the chance to learn about the different experiences of involved parties in the mechanisms in Serbia, and the chance to examine the challenges of the mechanisms for both public administration and civil society. This aspect specifically contributed to mutual understanding among participants of Turkey delegation from different sectors.

Civil Society's Role in Serbia: EU Accession Negotiations - Contribution to the Rule of Law and Human Rights
This study visit was organised with the aim to enhance advocacy activities on the meetings with representatives of institutions and civil society organizations based in Brussels. The main goal of the visit was to present the progress made by Serbia and to stress once again the immense importance of opening chapters 23 and 24 for the whole Serbian society.

The Regional Networking Workshop: Communication and Cooperation for Migrants' Human Rights brought together more than 40 participants from the Balkan region, (Turkey, Greece, Macedonia, Serbia, Albania, Bulgaria and Croatia) with an aim to clarify the state of play regarding migration along the Balkan Route, to map key actors, interventions and gaps and to contribute to coordination of CSOs in different countries for a better response to the crisis and to promote collaboration.

Training Seminar: Mechanisms for protection of fundamental rights
This training seminar is a follow up to the SB P2P Study Tour: Fundamental Rights and Anti-Discrimination, held in June 2015. The need for the training emerged from a realisation that in depth understanding of the mechanisms of the Constitutional Court and European Court for Human Rights are necessary for advocacy in the field of fundamental rights protection and anti-discrimination.

Conference "Development of Social Entrepreneurship in Montenegro
There is still need for improvement of the legal framework in Montenegro in relation to the development of social entrepreneurship. The conference on the topic “Development of Social Entrepreneurship in Montenegro” was organised to answer this need. The conference was organised by TACSO Montenegro office in cooperation with Government office for cooperation with Non-governmental organizations and TACSO Resource Center-Center for Development of Non-Governmental organizations (CRNVO).

Conference “Open Government, Engaged Citizens”
The Open Government Partnership (OGP) is an international platform for domestic reformers committed to making their governments more open, accountable and responsive to citizens. Since its launch in 2011, OGP has grown from 8 countries to 65 participating countries. What is unique to OGP is that it brings together engagement and action from governments and civil society alike. Western Balkan countries are members of this initiative . Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro joined the OGP in December 2012, whilst Serbia joined in April 2013. All four signatory countries are currently preparing and/or implementing their National Action Plans 2014-2016. In June 2014, Kosovo made a commitment to join the OGP, and in September 2014 Bosnia and Herzegovina became the latest signatory country of the OGP, currently developing the Action Plan.
P2P event on “Justice and Reconciliation” with representatives from CSOs from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Through its People to People component, TACSO supported the organisation of an event on ‘Justice and Reconciliation’ with representatives of civil society organisations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on the 20th anniversary Srebrenica Commemoration in Brussels, July 1-2, 2015. The event was attended by representatives of CSOs who are directly or indirectly linked to the civilian victims of Srebrenica genocide.

BiH CSOs in Social Entrepreneurship (SE)-Public Policies, Laws and Practices
The Conference "BiH CSOs in Social Entrepreneurship (SE) - Public Policies, Laws and Practices” was organized within the framework of the People to People (P2P) component of the TACSO project and represented the second event in a cycle of interlinked events on social entrepreneurship (SE), the purpose of which was to present the best practices from the EU countries and develop a model of creating an SE supportive environment in BiH.

Study Tour: Civil Society Environment and CSO - Public Cooperation in Estonia
Conference on Independent Civil Monitoring of Elections and Equal Access of Disadvantaged Groups to Electoral Rights
The Conference “Independent Civil Monitoring of Elections and Equal Access of Disadvantaged Groups to Electoral Rights” was organized by TACSO-Turkey in cooperation with Association for Monitoring Equal Rights (AMER) in the context of P2P Program, on 21 April 2015 in İstanbul. The Conference brought together 49 participants from CSOs that are specialized in independent election monitoring and others that work for the rights of different disadvantaged groups, relevant government agencies, representatives from the academy and the media, and thus provided an opportunity of sharing information and experience with representatives of European institutions and EU member and accession countries.
Sharing experiences from the study visit – Roma Integration
On 20th April in hotel TCC Grand Plaza, Skopje, the TACSO project organised information event for sharing the experience from the study visit “Roma Integration”. The study visit was implemented at the end of 2014 in Brussels under the P2P component of the TACSO project.

Conference on Anti-Discrimination and Equality on the Way to EU
The Conference “Anti-Discrimination and Equality on the Way to EU” was organized by TACSO-Turkey in cooperation with Kaos GL Association and Human Rights Joint Platform. Equality and combat against discrimination constitute one of the most important elements in EU accession in the context of political criteria. The Conference was expected to provide opportunities of information and experience sharing by EU institutions and CSOs related to EU standards and mechanisms in equality and combatting discrimination.

Fundamental rights, Non-Discrimination and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups, Including LGBTI
This event, organized by the European Parliament, Italian Presidency of the European Council and the European Commission, seeks to bring the fundamental rights of vulnerable groups, including LGBTI to the forefront of the political discussion in the Western Balkans and Turkey. MEPs and MPs from the Western Balkans and Turkey region were invited to participate in this event, together with representatives of equality bodies, ombudspersons and CSOs. TACSO supported the participation of CSOs, independent government bodies and equality representatives from the Western Balkans and Turkey.

Award for Roma Integration - Study Trip
During the Roma Summit on 4 April 2014 Director General Danielsson announced the Award for Roma Integration, to be organised to raise visibility of the existing challenges faced by Roma in the enlargement countries, of the invaluable contributions NGOs make to assist Roma communities and of the work of the European Union in support of Roma inclusion as one of its priority areas on fundamental rights. D3 and ELARG Roma Adviser, whom the European Commission put in charge of the Award, has requested TACSO to provide logistical and organisational support for the event and to organise a Study Tour to Brussels for Award nominees from each country. Overall, in addition to participation at the Roma Award Ceremony, this Study Tour also aimed to provide opportunities for successful projects and initiatives from Western Balkans and Turkey to meet their European counterparts – civil initiatives and organisations located in Brussels and relevant European Commission representatives –increasing chances for their collaboration on future projects.

Central regional conference of the SEE Media Observatory

Regional conference “Promotion of the CSF Guidelines: Current situation and way forward in monitoring, programming and progress reporting for the 2014-2020 period”
Within the ‘DG Enlargement Guidelines for EU support to civil society in enlargement countries, 2014-2020’ (CSF/CSO Guidelines), it is foreseen that the CSOs will be involved in the yearly monitoring of the indicators and results with TACSO’s support. Yearly national and regional meetings should analyse the CSOs’ development in all the countries and their advancement towards the targets. The monitoring process of the CSF/CSO Guidelines was envisaged to commence with the Baseline report, whose purpose is to look at the starting position per indicators of the Result Framework of the CSF/CSO Guidelines.

Public financing of Civil Society Organisations in Montenegro
The aim of the Conference was to support process of improvement and implementation of regulations concerning the financing of NGOs from public funds.The current legislation that provides funding of NGO projects was presented on the conference, and also recommendations useful for the development of new regulations in the field of NGO funding will be created. In the Strategy for the development of NGOs in Montenegro (adopted in December 2013.) it was planned to have prepared amendments to the Law on NGOs in the area of finance and the development of a bylaw that would more closely regulate this area by the end of the second quarter of 2014.
