The conference objective was to motivate civil society organisations (CSOs) to actively engage in the public debate on freedom of expression, media reforms and freedom of speech. The conference contributed to the improvement of the understanding of the context in the country concerning these issues and stimulated sharing views and opinions by different stakeholders (CSOs, media, journalists, government institutions) about the key challenges in these areas and how to address these challenges. The EU-funded projects to support the media reforms in the country were also presented at the conference.
This conference was a follow-up activity to the third Speak Up! regional conference held on November 4, 2015 in Brussels. Participants from the regional conference actively participated as facilitators, speakers or debate participants.
